Life as a West at Home Agent
Let's look at a typical day of one of our West at Home Agents to give you an idea just how your day could look.

Jessica is a mother of three children, ages 11, 8 and 6. They attend school during the day and are also very active in after school activities. Jessica's husband, Brian, works out of the home Monday-Friday.
7:30 a.m. - School Time
Jessica is busy preparing her three kids for the school day, making lunches, serving breakfast and reviewing homework assignments.
7:45 a.m. - Ready for Work
The kids board the bus for school. Jessica begins setting up her workspace for her 8-11 a.m. morning shift.
8:00 a.m. - Morning Shift
Jessica logs onto the computer right on time and at 8:02 a.m. receives her first call from a customer requesting assistance with his wireless phone bill. She continues to handle a variety of issues from incoming callers. During downtime she takes the time to review notes on product updates and also checks her home page to review her personal performance measures to determine in what areas she may need to hone her skills.
11:00 a.m. - Hitting the Malls
Jessica logs out of the computer system and calls her friend to confirm lunch plans. She and Laura meet for lunch at a local restaurant and then they hit the malls for a couple hours of shopping before heading home.
2:00 p.m. - Cleaning Up
Jessica has just enough time to pick up around the house and look through the daily mail before the kids arrive home from school.
3:00 p.m. - "We're Home"
The bus drops the kids off from school. Jessica meets them at the bus stop and walks them home. She prepares each of them a snack, talks about their school day, reviews their homework assignments, and then helps them get ready for their afternoon activities.
3:45 p.m. - Busy Kids
Jessica drops off her 8-year-old at the neighbor’s house for piano lessons and then heads to the baseball field for her 10-year-old son’s baseball practice. She then takes her 6-year-old to the park to play for a while and meets up with a couple other neighborhood moms.
5:00 p.m. - Family Time
Lessons and practice are over and Jessica returns home with the kids to prepare dinner. Brian returns from work at about 5:30 p.m. The family sits down for dinner to enjoy some time together. Dishes, homework and more family time follow.
8:00 p.m. - Bedtime Story
Brian pitches in with the kids, making sure baths are taken and everything is ready for the next school day. Jessica takes this time to clean up her work area and in preparation of another short work shift before the night ends.
9:00 p.m. - Night Shift
Jessica logs back into the West at Home system for a short one hour shift. One caller has a question that she just isn't certain how to answer, so Jessica instant chats one of the on-staff Team Leaders for assistance. Her question is quickly answered and she successfully completes the call. In between calls, she checks the schedule and chooses to sign up for some extra hours for the upcoming weekend. At 9:58 p.m. she completes her last call, checks her stats one more time and then logs out for the night.
10:30 p.m. - Goodnight!
Lights out.

Like any employer, West at Home expects good attendance. This means you must be ready to take calls once you log into the system. As you can see from the example above, Jessica always made sure her work space was properly set up and she had all the necessary job aids and websites on hand to effectively support her customers. And, for those questions Jessica didn’t have answers for, she always had her Operations Team on call to help make her home-based business the best it could be.
